Could you be at risk of Type 2 diabetes……..

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing and most potentially devastating conditions. The number of people diagnosed with diabetes has more than doubled over the last 10 years. That means around 700 are newly diagnosed every day.

Whilst Type 1 diabetes cannot be prevented, a major risk factor for developing Type 2 diabetes is being overweight or obese. We know that if we were able to reduce obesity levels we could reduce the numbers of people with Type 2 diabetes in the future. With almost two in every three people in the UK overweight or obese, there are now 12.3 million people at an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Reducing the number of people in the UK who are overweight or obese would reduce the number of people developing Type 2 diabetes in the future.

Views wanted on access to GP services – please complete the survey

NHS Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – the organisation which plans and buys healthcare services on behalf of residents wants to hear from local people about access to GP services in the town.

In 2017 the Extended Access service was launched. This service means that anybody registered with a Blackpool GP practice can book an appointment to see a GP, nurse or other health professional at Whitegate Drive Health Centre, upto 8pm in the evening or from 8am – 8pm on weekends.

You don’t have to have used this service to share your views. The CCG would like to hear from you on what you think about these evening and weekend appointments should you ever need to access them in future, have already accessed these or would never intend to.

All views are thoroughly appreciated. By completing this survey you will be helping the CCG to develop GP services which meet your needs and those of other local people.

For example, if the majority of people tell the CCG they wouldn’t be interested in seeing a GP or other clinician on a Sunday, then it may be decided not to offer Sunday appointments. This helps to make sure that only appointments which you have said are most convenient for you are offered, the right professionals are in place to deliver care and that the CCG doesn’t unnecessarily spend money on services which won’t be used.

To complete the survey please visit to CCG website here: http://blackpoolccg.nhs.uk/improving-access-to-general-practice-services/.

The survey will close on Wednesday 16 May 2018.
